Based on Denmark Street in the centre of Wokingham, Oslar Coffee is rated on Trip Advisor as the best coffee shop in the town and it’s easy to see why. Set in a beautiful grade II listed building they offer a range of unique coffees from the experts at London Coffee Roasters, as well as milkshakes and freshly made sandwiches and pastries. This is the place to visit if you are a coffee connoisseur as they take their coffee seriously, making it with local milk and a state of the art La Cimbali coffee machine and grinder.

Another coffee shop based on the popular Denmark Street, this light and airy café is one of a royally appointed local chain of three, boasting a royal warrant for services as a caterer to Her Majesty the Queen. You can get both breakfast and lunch here as well as milkshakes, juices, coffee and tea. The Brown Bag team pride themselves on their sustainability and commitment to GMO free produce, and also take an active role in supporting the wider community by sponsoring local football clubs.

One of Wokingham’s hidden treasures, you’ll find this on the outskirts of town based within the Ashridge Manor Garden Centre. It’s well worth the visit though as the breakfast here was actually voted the best in Berkshire by listeners of BBC Radio. With an open air terraced area allowing you to soak up the sun, the Farm Café is able to accommodate special dietary needs, has a range of daily chef specials made with local produce and even has an online lunch delivery service.

Back into the centre of Wokingham and this cute coffee shop can be found on Shute End. Offering premium fair trade coffee, the friendly team have everything you could want here, from a wide selection of choice for both breakfast and lunch, cakes if you are after an indulgent treat and a great choice of drinks.

Heading out of town Beaton’s Tearoom is based in the next village to Wokingham – Crowthorne. For a book-loving coffee drinker, this stylish yet cosy café has everything you could want as it’s a tearoom with a bookshop! As well as some great reading material you’ll also find over 25 loose leaf teas and a range of regional coffee. They have a daily changing menu with home-baked cakes and scones. They also offer breakfast, lunch and a lavish afternoon tea.

You do have to travel a little further to reach this gem but it’s well worth it. Whittington’s Tea Barge is located within a modern converted and surprisingly spacious canal barge moored up on the north bank of the River Thames by Hill’s Meadow in Reading. The interior is traditional British heritage in a quirky setting. Come for the classic uncomplicated tea, coffee and hearty fare and return for a vintage High Tea Cruise up the river with exclusive use of the barge.
